trunk or treats rock

Joshua was aiming for a Disco dude, but looked more like a Beastie Boy:

Yeah Boyeee....it's sabotage.
You gotta fight for your right to PAAAAAAAARRRRRTTTTTYYYYY"

My bro-in-law Randy went as the ultimate nerd....

but for some reason he had on a mask too???
LOL

My bro Cori.... uh I mean Joe Dirt:

He was all over them chili dogs, like flies on cow patties. (or my dog on cow patties. she is so gross.)

Emily was a Queen:

(and she's been wearing that tiara ever since)

Julian was....hmmm, I don't know....could it be.... Satan!!!??? (church lady people, work with me here)

he wanted a red face and horns, but we "ran out of time" (yeah, that's my story and i'm stickin' to it, okay?) i wasn't too thrilled about taking an evil looking satan to a church party, know what i mean vern? he had a skewered skull head on the top of that axe too, but it mysteriously went missing...hmmmm.

I lurve my SEESTER Carrie. She's so perty:

I should have gotten a picture of myself, but I wasn't dressed up either.
ORIGINALLY I was all dressed up as an 80's valley girl, but i took it too far (as usual) and ended up looking like an escaped mental patient, except with a side pony tail and lots of blue eye shadow ...josh actually still looked cool, but i just looked like a nut job, so i washed my face and changed into my normal clothes right before we left the house. josh called me a party pooper, so I MUST redeem myself this friday night.

I love my nieces to pieces:

Just look at this man:

He was so excited to win the cake walk. You'd think the prize was a million dollars, not just a cupcake (which he shoved in his mouth in one bite). You could hear him hootin' and a hollerin' all over the building.

Saints game

Monday night football!!!!
We went to the Saints game at the Superdome. It was so much fun. New Orleans is WILD yall. The place was packed. The energy was awesome:

We love hangin' out with my little sis Carrie and her husband Randy.

Nothing like showing your team spirit than putting a temporary tattoo on your FACE, right???

Shot of the field:

Wait a second? Is that another $5 Coke? And where is that cup? We should have kept that cup!!!

It was an emotional roller coaster!!!
We went from HAPPY:

To soooooo sad:

To just plain CRAZY!!!! LOL

There were some hard core alcoholics at that game...The girl in front of me drank at least 3 of these bad boys:
Who can name that drink?
It looks like a MEAL, huh? YUCK.

The Saintsations shook their tail feathers like nobody's business:

P.S. Wendy is having a GIVEAWAY!!! Click on her name. I feel so cool. I just figured out how to do links like that...(I'm the last one, huh?)

Check it out

Wow.
I got my first check today.

Of course that was only for 3 hours of work, so hopefully the next check will look better...Maybe I can get a pair of socks with this one?
LOL
Today I subbed for a Pre-K class. NEVER AGAIN.
Don't get me wrong- I do like small children, but 15 at one time (and in one room) is....well......hmmm, how shall I put it?.....TORTURE!!!!

Isn't this gnome sooooooooo adorable?

I love gnomes. He's the only one I have so far. I'm thinking about starting a collection. They're just so darn cute.

Oh look- Julian got a hold of my camera again. He takes pictures of the weirdest, off-the-wall stuff.

Isn't Annie the cutest dog ever?
I totally let her eat off of my spoon.....and then I continue eating with it afterwards. That's how much I love her.

what's been up

The Brown's Bistro:

Last night I started cooking dinner and the kids really wanted to help me.
They got so excited about setting the table.
And then they came up with the idea to make it look like a restaurant...complete with name cards by each setting, a menu, hot bread in a basket...
Emily got all dressed up like a waiter, complete with a name tag taped to the front of her blouse. Here she is pulling Josh's chair out for him.

Annie's always got to be right in the middle of the action:

I love these nuts:

I rarely fry stuff.
Pretty much the only time we bust out the "Fry Daddy" is when Josh goes fishing and actually brings some fish home. YUM.
I love fried catfish the most...
But this is the BEST way to cook okra:

I could eat the whole plate myself. LOVE OKRA.

Heaven for Annie:

Did I mention her parents'names?
They had the most hilarious Cajun names we've ever heard:
Jacque-O-Bo My Little Friend
and
Snickers Doe Bell DuFassat
YEP
I kid you not. Those are the names on her papers.
She's the best dog that ever lived.

One of my favorite things about subbing at high schools is the cheesy wall art...
especially when it's supposed to be inspiring/motivational:

Never look down on anyone unless you're helping them up. LOL

Good times at the camp

I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR!!!
Something about the weather just makes me feel so happy.
I love that it means we're about to have Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas....
I love that it's going to be cold enough for roasting wienies and marshmallows at the camp very soon...
Cocoa in the mornings!
Cozy sweaters, mittens, thick socks, and cute hats!
Pumpkins and leaves and bales of hay!!!
We passed this field on the way to the camp and I had to catch my breath.

Friday the kids and I took off to the camp. My Mom is giving the bunkhouse an overhaul! I am so excited.

We painted all of the bunk beds a very pretty shade of green. That was a job, but we had so much fun doing it.

We dug up a ton of peanuts.

Here's my dad on RT with a humungous pile of peanut plants he yanked up all by himself!!!

Can you see the sweat and dirt? He drank about a gallon of water that day but never once used the bathroom...

So we took a ride down to the trail where he'd planted a bunch of rye grass, peas, and other greens (for the deer)....

And look at what we saw:
Click to enlarge if you can't see that poor, pitiful, ugly thing. It had just rained so this possum was all wet and looking especially unattractive. Sometimes a possum can actually look kind of cute. Not this sad sap.

Look at those greens!!!

My Dad cut some okra for me. He's so sweet. I'm going to fry it up with dinner tomorrow night! YUM!

MY week

Yesterday my Mom and I went to Cafe Du Monde for some beignets. YUM.
They are little donuts covered in powdered sugar. DELICIOUS.
I had to get a picture of my Mom's face. She had sugar all over her mouth while she was talking to me, but when I told her- instead of wiping it off, she just added some more!!! LOL

Remember my old car? SO SAD 2 say goodbye.....
But we were spending a lot more time under the hood than behind the wheel.

So we got a newer car!!! YIPPEE!!!
I love it.

I finally went to the library and got myself a card. I love books but lately I just go to book stores instead of checking them out. (Goodwill sells paperbacks 5 for 99 cents. HELLO)
Look at what I checked out:

Usually I am not into self-help books but maybe I need to help myself to a few every now and then. (hear that play on words?)
